Introducing Reiss Phillips, the Weighbridge Office Manager at our Ferns recycling centre. We caught up with Reiss to learn more about his role here at Ferns, and what he gets up to in his spare time.
What is your role here at Ferns?
I am the Weighbridge Office Manager here at the Ferns recycling centre in Brentwood, Essex.
This means when the lorries come in, I take the weight and check the materials to make sure we are compliant with the environmental standards and agencies.
How long have you worked at Ferns?
I have been at Ferns for 5 years now but previously worked at Forefront (one of the Ferns companies) for 4 years as a plant operative and yardman.
What has been your proudest achievement since you began working here?
Progressing my role within the business to office manager!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Me and my Mrs, Kirsty, have a horsebox business, so we rent horse boxes out to the equine fraternity.
On the weekends I take my daughter to ballet lessons, she’s 6 now and really enjoys it!
I like cars as well, Classic Fords are my favourite.
Who inspires you?
Lee Harrison my director! He inspires me to work hard and focus on my career progression.
Lee, sitting opposite chimes in here, “I give him the encouragement to better himself” – Lee has become somewhat of a mentor for the younger guys who come and work at the recycling centre. Read more about Lee on his blog post here.
Lastly, do you have any exciting news you would like to share?
Me and my Mrs have just sold our house and we are looking to upscale!
Good luck on the house hunt Reiss!
