Job Summary
Ferns Surfacing Ltd has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Reinstatement Planning Manager to join our friendly team, working on our Gas contract with SGN, from our officed in Wrotham, Kent.
This is a key leadership role within our planning function. You will oversee reinstatement planning, manage a team of planners, and ensure resources are deployed effectively to deliver works right-first-time, on time, and without fines.
Responsibilities
- Effectively plan the reinstatement of excavations in line with NRSWA and SGN service level agreements (SLAs)
- Oversee the daily and forward plan, allocating gangs, plant, and subcontractors to meet programme targets
- Lead, support and manage a team of reinstatement planners, ensuring workloads are balanced and priorities are clear
- Prevent overruns, fines, and defects by proactive planning and re-sequencing of works
- Manage reactive planning of emergency work, ensuring compliance and swift response
- Liaise closely with contract management teams, site supervisors and reinstatement operatives to meet SLAs
- Respond promptly to SGN client enquiries, providing accurate updates and agreeing recovery actions
- Ensure reinstatement teams have the correct system information and permits in place to complete activities
- Track WIP, cycle times and performance data, using reports to drive improvements
Skills and competencies
- Reinstatement knowledge is essential – including SROH reinstatement categories, materials and compaction standards
- Strong working knowledge of NRSWA requirements
- Demonstrated experience in planning within the utilities sector (gas preferred, water/power/highways considered)
- Competent IT user (Word, Excel, Outlook, planning systems)
- Strong leadership, organisational and time management skills
- Calm and methodical under pressure, with excellent attention to detail
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
Qualifications/Experience
- Experience of working to NRSWA standards is required
- Previous planning management experience within utilities reinstatement is preferred
- NRSWA Supervisor accreditation desirable
- Full UK driving licence (required)
