Meet Daniel. He is Ferns latest Accountant Apprentice and has spent the last 7 months settling into his role. Read on to find out more about what it’s like to be an apprentice at Ferns.

What is your role here at Ferns?

I am a Trainee Accountant. My day-to-day role involves processing invoices and preparing payment paperwork.

How long have you worked here?

I have worked here for 7 months now. Time has flown by; it feels like yesterday that I joined!

What do you enjoy most about your role here at Ferns?

My favourite part about working here is all the people, getting to meet and know them. It’s super friendly working here, everyone is willing to help.

What has been your proudest achievement at Ferns so far?

My biggest achievement is being able to work effectively in an office environment as coming straight from school, is completely new to me and nothing like I have experienced before.

What are some of the challenges you face in your role? How do you overcome them?

One of the challenges I face is getting supplier statements to match our system. One way to make the process easier is to get both documents on excel and work through them methodically. Everyone is always on hand to help.

What do you do in your spare time?

At the weekends I play rugby for the Ashford rugby club and train twice a week. I’m also interested in cars and want to get a project car to do up and work on the weekends.

Who inspires you?

Shashi, my Financial Controller, has inspired me as he is always enthusiastic about work every day. His enthusiasm makes me strive to do the best I can.
