Introducing Lee. One of our Site Managers at Forefront Utilities. We caught up with Lee to find out more about his role at Forefront and what he gets up to in his spare time. Turns out, he’s got some pretty interesting hobbies, read on to find out more.
What is your role at Forefront?
My job title is Site Manager and my role is to look after sites and teams at Forefront. The majority of the time I’m on-site, helping to plan and manage the work and also help out if anything goes wrong.
How long have you worked at Forefront?
I’ve worked at Forefront for 18 years in total! I started as a ganger and 3 years ago I was promoted to Site Manager, I still have my ganger and service laying tickets.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Seeing things run smoothly and that the company is financially prosperous. That’s the first and foremost. I take pride in my job based on the fact that if we have a lot of rented gear, I’m getting that equipment at a lower rate and that we are generating profit!
What has been your proudest achievement at Forefront so far?
Getting my large diameter CP, not many people have it! – This certificate allows me to work on large diameter mains.
What are some of the challenges you face in your role? How do you overcome them?
It changes day to day. If something happens on a particular day it’s my responsibility to go to the site and help resolve it, making sure it’s taken care of safely as well as efficiently. When it comes to gas, you can’t get it wrong, so I work with the teams, SHEQ advisors, and everyone else on our sites to ensure we get it right the first time.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy mountain climbing, I visit the Himalayas every year with a friend and go trekking there. I also enjoy scuba diving I’ve been out to the Caribbean shark diving a few times. When I’m not swimming with sharks and climbing the Himalayas I like to spend time with my family!
Who inspires you?
My wife and kids. I work hard for them so they can have a good life and we can do the things we want to do!
