Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will support the commercial management on our Water projects, ensuring costs are effectively controlled and projects are delivered within budget while meeting contractual and financial requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with the Commercial Manager and Project Teams to provide accurate cost reporting and commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties
- Assist with the preparation and management of project cost plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Monitor project costs and identify potential risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Measure and value works completed and assist with the preparation and submission of applications, valuations, and variations.
- Support the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including obtaining quotations and preparing comparison schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents, contracts, bills of quantities, and other commercial documentation.
- Maintain accurate cost records and provide regular commercial reports to the Commercial Manager.
- Support the administration of contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Liaise with project managers, site teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure effective commercial management.
- Assist with the preparation of final accounts and project close-out documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Experience
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2–4 years’ experience working in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role.
- Experience within civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or construction projects is desirable.
- Basic understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
- Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organisational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Working towards professional membership with RICS, ICES, CIOB, or a similar professional body (Desirable)
- Experience using commercial or cost management software (Desirable)
- Knowledge of utility sectors including water and gas infrastructure (Desirable)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment (Desirable)
